Snow Day Giveaway ~

Well, the weathermen sure did predict this one ~ we are snowed in! I'm happy to just stay put ~ hubby just came in after shoveling and he looks like a snowman!


There's something so inspiring about being holed up, I feel the creative energy pulling me in a million directions; creating, baking, knitting, stitching, rearranging furniture...and of course sitting by the fire sipping hot cocoa and reading some inspiring books and magazines...

I know you are wondering when am I ever going to get to the GOOD part...well, this is a bit embarrassing...I won TWO contests; one from Where Women Cook for my apron, and one for Where Women Create 12 Days of Christmas! I know, I thought I was on a roll so I played the lottery ~ didn't win!

So I'd like to share a bit of my good fortune with you my sweet readers!
I'm giving away one copy each of the latest Where Women Cook and Where Women Create magazines! All you have to do is leave a comment and answer the question:

If you could spend the day with one creative person who would it be?

I know that's a hard one, especially since there are so many! Robin Brown of Magnolia Pearl, who's featured in the latest issue of WW Create ~ just to spend a day with her, in her home, sit and eat a delish organic salad, and touch all those amazing fabrics, and study every tiny detail, would definitely make me feel like a bohemian princess for a day!

Sweet Vintage Candy Cups ~

It's that time of year again...time for some Sweet Vintage Candy Cups
...and a giveaway!

This year I'm mixing it up a bit and making it a Swap
You may remember last years ~ here

I love this sweet woodland one, with everything just getting ready to bloom
I've been playing around with Martha's flocking ~ have you discovered it too?

This sweet frilly candy cup will be given away to a lucky winner!
Ahh, butterflies & tiny blooms ~ bring them on!

I twirled ribbon around a silver pipe cleaner for the handle ~ love how the little bits poke out, very fun!

So here's the details if you'd like to join~

2. Make a Candy Cup using any materials you wish
3. Send me a photo by March 21st
4. I will e-mail you your swap person by March 21st
5. Mail to your Swap Person by March 26th, so it will arrive in time for Easter

I'm getting ready to leave for Cali, heading to the Art, Paperie & Pleasantries show

May 2 & 3 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, CA

I'm so excited because as you all know, I love Cali! My sister will be helping me, my oldest and dearest friend is going to try and come up to help too, I get to see a bunch of my Cali friends, and new ones I will finally meet in person, and last but not least ~ can you stand the lineup of artists who will be showing...pinch me!

One World ~ One Heart

I am so excited to be part of this event this year!

If you are just hearing about One World ~ One Heart you can go to Lisa's blog to find out more. She created this yearly event as a way to connect with bloggers from all over the world. For me that has been one of the most exciting and interesting things about blogging ~ connecting with others (mainly women) who share similar creative interests. I feel so fortunate to have met so many of you in real life, which makes it even sweeter!

Gifties, Cookies & a Giveaway ~

Look what came in the mail yesterday ~ these surprise precious gifties! My sweet Bella friend Jessi sent them to me. I collect these German glass ornies; how sweet is the little bird house, and you can never have enough of the clip-on birds! I love the feather stamp too ~ it will get lots of use! Thanks sweetie I will treasure them all!

She is hosting a Holiday Cookie Swap today
That's Jessi! Do you remember those play kitchens!? A girl down the street had the whole set and I loved playing with her ~ kitchen envy, still got that ~ lol! Only now I want all white with marble counters and vintage hardware ~ someday!

Here's one of our holiday favorites ~
Chocolate Dipped Coconut Macaroons
I adapted this version from Susan Branch's "Christmas From the Heart of the Home"

2 2/3 cup flake coconut, firmly packed
2/3 cup sugar

1/4 cup flour
3 egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla extract
4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips

To make Susan's original variation: Add 1 more egg white, 1 cup sliced almonds & 1 tsp. almond extract to above recipe.

Preheat oven to 325. In a large bowl combine coconut, sugar & flour with a spoon. Stir in egg whites & vanilla (almonds & almond extract.) Form balls from rounded tablespoonfuls & place 2" apart on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 20 - 25 min. until golden. Remove from pan & cool.
Chocolate ~ Melt in microwave 30 seconds at a time until smooth, stir between each. Dip one edge of each cookie into chocolate and set on wax paper until set. Makes 18 - 24 cookies.
